CST 9/4/06 "Lizzie Everard's Beatitudes"
on: Sunday 9th April @ 8.30pm
at: Favorit, Teviot Place (view map)
By request, an arty one this time.
We'll be meeting to discuss this series of photographs taken in 2002 by Christian photographer Lizzie Everard. The series was inspired by the portion of Matthew's gospel in Mt 5:1-12 commonly called The Beatitudes (blessings), and we'll be engaging with the text too (so bring a Bible).
Come with your artistic heads on!

I just thought I'd leave a comment to allow a space for any 'post-discussion discussion' on this CST session.
I don't know about anyone else, but for me this was probably the best CST discussion so far - there was something about engaging with 'wordless' images that produced a greater degree of stimulation and involvement than our other discussions so far.
There was far too much said to reproduce here, but the overall feeling I was left with was one of a renewed excitement about prayer, about this Christian life and about the CST community. Thanks to all who came, and to Lizzie Everard for providing the fuel for our fires!
I am sure we'll be having another visual arts driven discussion soon.
In the meantime, blessings!

Agreed. It was cool. Church for real.
Hi! This was a great discussion. The photographs really gave a brilliant starting point to engage with text that I had started to become 'immune' to. My desire for the discussion was to begin to appreciate what the text was designed to 'say' itself, alongside the observations suggested by Lizzie's photographic interpretation.
